The UMMC difference
The Memory Impairment and Neurodegenerative Dementia (MIND) Center at UMMC is one of the nation's leaders in the search to understand and treat Alzheimer's disease. The center includes research and clinical care services.
The Gertrude C. Ford MIND Research Center has a mission to uncover the underlying causes of Alzheimer's and related dementias and to develop new treatments. Since the center began in 2010, its researchers have advanced the understanding of how the brain ages and have identified multiple factors which predict the development of dementia.
The MIND Center Clinic at UMMC offers diagnosis and leading-edge outpatient treatment for patients with memory loss and cognitive impairment. Our multidisciplinary clinical team includes geriatricians, neurologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and care coordinators, all highly skilled in caring for patients and families battling Alzheimer's and other dementias. A caregiver support group and individual counseling are available to help families cope with the progression of the disease.
